AUSPICIOUS  BEGINNING  (Paine, 2010) height 23", bloom 5.25", season M, Dormant, Diploid, Fragrant,  Brick red self with green throat. (Timeless Fire × Becky Lynn)

The first time this ever bloomed as a seedling, it was as a side-by-side pair like this. It was my first decent seedling.

CHANGING OF THE GUARD  (Paine, 2010) height 45", bloom 5", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Leathery tailored tall well-branched red, with green throat. (Kasbah Fez × John Philip Sousa)

CIRCULAR LOGIC (Paine 2010)                           $100.00 for 1 Fan

"CIRCULAR LOGIC" was long a "garden name" here for a seedling out of Millikan's ARABELLA with exquisite round form that gave beautifully formed offspring. However, itself had too small of a budcount to consider introducing.  So I decided to use the name officially for what we have here.

CIRCULAR LOGIC  (Paine, 2010) height 30", bloom 4.25", season La, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Leathery ruffled round sultry deep red with slightly darker eyezone and a tiny yellow-green throat. (Fire Music × Apache Uprising)

THIS ONE IS LATE, AND ONE OF THE PRIDES OF THE END OF THE SEASON.

GAIUS OCTAVIUS                                           $40.00 for 1 Fan

GAIUS OCTAVIUS
(Paine 2011) height 34", bloom 4", season M, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,
Recurved ruffled dark red with green throat. (Watermelon Tourmaline X Rubellite)

(The name of Caesar Augustus before his ascent to power.)

KHRUSHCHEV                                           $40.00 for 1 Fan

KHRUSHCHEV
(Paine 2011) height 36", bloom 3.75", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,
Bright round recurved ruffled red pony self with small gold to green throat. (Small Slam in Hearts X Rubellite)

In memory of someone who did NOT go to nuclear war with us, and who further redeemed himself by smuggling his memoirs out to the West after his fall from power.  As bloom size goes, it is a small red.

RED LEGION  (Paine 2010)                                      $50.00 for 2 Fans

RED LEGION  (Paine, 2010) height 31", bloom 5", season EM, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Tightly ruffled leathery vigorous bright red near-self bitone with yellow green throat. (Oomph Pah × Jungle Fever)

RED PLUSH                                         FUTURE INTRODUCTION

RED PLUSH
(Paine 2011) height 25", bloom 4.75", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,
Sultry leathery bright red self with green throat. [Abraham X (Arabella X unknown)]

Among my reds that I particularly like, this one always stops traffic (me) while ferrying pollen back and forth in my office as chief bumble bee.  The pollen parent was the round pony seedling that has given a number of well-formed offspring.

DUE TO CURRENTLY INSUFFICIENT QUANTITY, THIS IS TO BE A FUTURE INTRODUCTION

RED PYROTECHNICS (Paine 2010)                              $50.00 for 2 Fans

RED PYROTECHNICS  (Paine, 2010) height 31", bloom 4.5", season EM, Evergreen, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Ruffled pinkish red, slightly darker eyezone, with yellow-green throat. (Kent's Favorite Two × Red Grace)

RED RABBLE ROUSER  (Paine 2010)                                 $40.00 for 2 Fans

RED RABBLE ROUSER  (Paine, 2010) height 29", bloom 5", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Purplish red self with a yellow-green throat. ((Jovial × Painted Trillium) × (Arabella × unknown))

RUBELLITE (Paine 2010)                                          $60.00 for 2 Fans

This is named for the popular pink to purplish red tourmaline semi-precious gemstone and collector mineral.  As can be seen from the parentage of my other introductions, this has been a good parent, as a pollen parent.  Pod set is difficult at best.

RUBELLITE  (Paine, 2010) height 33", bloom 5", season M, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Saturated dark clear red petals and sepals with a green throat. (Red Velvet Fur × Bama Bound)

SMALL SLAM IN HEARTS (Paine 2010)                           $50.00 for 2 Fans

An allusion to my former bridge-playing tendencies.  I had time for duplicate bridge in the days before I got sucked into the daylily world.

SMALL SLAM IN HEARTS  (Paine, 2010) height 33", bloom 4", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant,  Red petals and sepals, with yellow to green throat. (Fire of Hell × Bama Bound)

STARTLING APPEARANCE  (Paine 2010)                        $75.00 for 1 Fan

STARTLING APPEARANCE  (Paine, 2010) height 38", bloom 8.5", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant, UFo Crispate ,  Dark maroon with lighter petal midribs and large yellow-green throat. (unknown sdlg × unknown sdlg)

THE REDS ARE COMING                                          $50.00 for 2 Fans

THE REDS ARE COMING
(Paine 2011) height 24", bloom 4.5", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant, Lightly ruffled bright red with a yellow-green throat. [(Fire Escape X Bama Bound) X (Arabella X unknown)]

Another of the results from the pony seedling (Arabella X unknown).

WATERMELON TOURMALINE (Paine 2010)                           $75.00 for 2 Fans

Like the watermelon, this semi-precious gemstone and collector-mineral comes color-zoned with a reddish to purplish core of Rubellite, surrounded by a green rind of Verdelite.  I do not have any daylilies green enough to name "Verdelite".  Needless to say, daylily coloration as in this bloom is the reverse of that found in tourmaline.

WATERMELON TOURMALINE  (Paine, 2010) height 35", bloom 4.75", season M, Evergreen, Tetraploid,  Red petals and sepals with a yellow-green throat. (Scarlet Orbit × Bama Bound)
